Back streets

Another trip to Dorchester this afternoon to guess where - yes the dentist! The light was poor and inspiration lacking. This area runs parallel with the main shopping area South Street. It has changed a lot since I first knew it in the mid-sixties but it is still difficult to remember how it was back then. The large supermarket building on the left certainly wasn't there. The church behind in High East Street has long been redundant and the Dorset County Museum was using it for storage. I remember when the achaeologists unearthed 200 Roman skeletons up on Poundbury (the fortified hill and not today's urban extension of the same name) and housed them in that building until they were sent up to the British Museum. The old town is still there but there are many more new buildings which creep in between the others - some good some bad.
