Learning day by day

Future Blipper at the Aviva Series Grand Prix

Great day, despite getting stuck in traffic heading for the BGT auditions in Birmingham. Carys had a go at the sporthall athletics and got Step 2 (the same as she got at Crystal Palace in the summer), we grabbed some food and went in.

Great seats, could have been closer but we were the only ones in our row which meant C could get up to autograph hunt without disturbing anyone. Fantastic meeting. Loved the mens 60m and mens hurdles. Jessica Ennis two pb's and absolutely awesome in the hurdles. Wow. Joe Thomas will come good and mens high jump what can you say, so close to a British record.

Carys managed to have a chat and get the autograph of Linford Christie. Never one of my favourite athletes, but he has gone up in my estimation as he had a lovely conversation with her about how good she must be to get her certificate. She came back simply bouncing.

A little later we went out to try the sports hall again. The benefits of coaching...one (slightly more mature) man recording her efforts this time rather than a young (15 year old) girl, giving her advice and encouragement and suddenly she is on step 4 and yes you guessed it bouncing again.

Other signatures included: Harry AA, Andrew Pozzi (one to watch in the sprint hurdles), Marilyn Okoro, Laura Turner and Michael Bingham. Michael Bingham, thank you. Not only did you chat to C as you signed both her certificates but you were the last athlete we saw and she bounced all the way home because "He shook my hand Mummy, like I was a grown up."

Both girls enjoyed their day out. Daddy and Will had adventures on a train and shared a cake and Will was in bed and asleep when we got home at 18.45. Well done and thank you Daddy.
