This view is on the west coast, near Lihou Island, which is only accessible at low tide. In the background is a martello tower situated on Fort Saumarez. This was originally built to protect the beaches from invasion during the Napoleonic wars. During the Second World War occupation of the the Channel Islands, the Germans built a naval observation tower on top of the original fortification.
It is a lovely mild and sunny February day here in Guernsey and there are lots of people out and about doing running, cycling and walking.
