A suitable photo for a musical day! We spent the morning wandering around Caochangdi, Beijing's less well-known art district (where Ai Wei Wei's studio is... was?) and stopped for a coffee in a brand new cafe called Radio.
The evening was spent at the Forbidden City Concert Hall at the last night of a choral music festival, which was wonderful. Karl Jenkins was a special guest and premiered a new piece of music, Celebration, written exclusively for the festival. Only mildly embarrassed that I did not recognise him as the world's most performed living composer...
