The jail

Today, I was in the jail, sounds bad, don't you think. I really was in the jail, except that nowadays the building serves as a hotel/restaurant, so I went there for a coffee.
From the back of the restaurant hall, you can still find a fully renovated isolation jail room, that is nowadays open for public. Also the old corridors and stairways can be seen in the hotel.

The prison of Katajanokka operated 165 yrs, before it was closed down in 2002. The prison used to host 133 prisoners and due to the lack of space it was usually restless- in a jail room of 7 square meters could be living 4 prisoners at the same time.
