Sculpted angel

Today went for a walk into the Hietaniemi cemetery. The park area of the Hietaniemi cemetery is really wide. There have been laid to rest all the former presidents, lots of remarkable artists and business families, as well as war heroes and ordinary people.

The oldest part of the cemetery is from 1829. And the cemetery was enlarged in 1864. The newest part, which established around the crematory is from 1949.
From the cemetery can be found several statues and monuments, that have been sculpted by numerous artists, as well as two different chapels. The cemetery is also remarkable tourist sight, due to its cultural/historical value .
