A tragic tale

In the spring of 2001 the body of a baby was found on a footpath in the Edinburgh suburb of Craigmillar. The boy was only a few days old when he was abandoned to his fate.

Despite extensive enquiries by Police, the mother was never found. Local residents named the wee boy Craig Millar, after the area, and a collection paid for a decent funeral and this touching memorial.

Today this stone is to be found on a grotty dog-shit strewn path, in a part of Scotland's Capital City that tourists never see. I find this almost unbearably sad...
