walks with my dog

Favourite place!

Ho hum blippers. Today was indeed another day. Indeed. Did what I had to do at home waited for mums getting up carer and then went shopping in the village. Was away about an hour. Now I will digress slightly. Eoghan and I have been collecting red sandstone for Agee years in order to build a wall. Quietly slowly with a great sense of satisfaction as the pile grew. We asked as people threw it out we collected it here there and everywhere. We finally had enough to do what we wanted. The storm had blown sections of a fence down so it was time. End of digression. When I came back from my shopping mum told me that a man had come to the door and
asked if he could take some of her bricks for some drainage work he was doing. Take as much of that old stone as you want she happily told him. Yup every last piece gone. I looked at the empty space I looked at her and I can honestly say I know why people snap. Instead I took Dileas out for a walk. Eoghan is so angry he can't talk to her. Then I went with Eoghan's sister and brother to the hospital where their mum will be until they decide what's wrong with her. Eoghan got a couple of hours off and we had a really nice visit. afterwards the four of us went to the Glasgow Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. This is one of my absolute favourite places on earth. When I was young and no one had much money this was a regular visit for Glasgow families as the museum was free. The joy of the samurai armour the stuffed animals the silver and paintings. My brother fell forever in love with Salvador Dali having seen The Christ ofSt John on The Cross. There were even SHRUNKEN HEADS. Tapestries were one of my first understandings of the role women have played in art with very little appreciation. There was nothing you couldn't find and nothing you couldn't learn. My dad was great at explaining things. One real joy to me has been watching my brother and niece repeat the same process She and all her friends have met there regularly all their lives. In the eighties when it became fashionable for museums to charge admission Glasgow resolutely refused to do so as they considered it such a community asset. Still is free. Closed for three years for a major refurbishment it is now ready to excite more generations of excited children. Has a lovely cafe downstairs too!! I LOVE THIS BUILDING.
