Lough Ine, Holy Wells

Early start today the car was due for an NCT retest at lunch time , so Rachel and I visited Lough Ine, an amazing lake that runs out into the sea, it's a place I've always wanted to go kyaking, maybe this summer!
Freespiral had told me about two beautiful Holy Wells, in the woodland surrounding the lake, so we set off to find them! The first well dedicated to St. Brigit is named Tobarin na sul, the well of the eyes, reputed to cure sore eyes! The array of offering was quite astounding, many were hanging from the four Rowan tree trunks at the back of the well.
The second well, just as ancient, was dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary and here the offerings were more Mary orientated. This well was surrounded by quartz pebbles, so it really stood out against the earthy woodland colours. We left a heart shaped pebble on this well and made a wish and at Tobarin na sul an old bracelet of mine and another wish!
Just time to go to the Riverside cafe in Skibbereen for pancakes with local goats cheese, sundried tomatoes and pesto, delicious!
Thankfully the car passes it's NCT!
Back in time for an afternoon in the garden, continued weeding pathways. Planted out some daffodil bulbs I had grown in pots and an oak tree in a new
woodland area. Time to put my feet up, Rachel's cooking supper!
