A delayed Christmas flower

Mom gave each of us an amaryllis bulb, and had me get one for her as well. It's a Christmas tradition in our corner of the world.

Because it didn't look like she was going to make it home for Christmas, I gave it just barely enough water to keep it alive without sending it into full Christmas glory too soon.

Meanwhile, we worked on her house, and one of my projects was this window, in a wall of the living room that was extremely light-challenged.

So, I finished the window and gave the amaryllis full care to bring it alive for Mother's next visit home, displaying it in the new window in hopes to bring her a bit of joy on her arrival.
