Ethical shopping - and kicking back

We do all our grocery shopping at the Co-op. We can walk there (okay, I take my pushbike to help with the load), it's ethical, and we are members so we get our divi. Three bottles of Cobra for £5.50. Not bad. Particularly as Rol was making fridgebottom curry for supper (you know, the stuff that's just 'left' looking a bit sad and needs using).

I have a particular affiliation to Cobra Beer because several years ago I was at a conference and heard the guy behind Cobra, Karan Bilamoria, (apols if I've got the spelling wrong) speak. He was interesting, funny, inspirational and very, very attractive. And I got to shake his hand. Best thing, though, was when an associate said to me at the pre-dinner drinks do: 'I am soooo looking forward to hearing Karan Bilamoria. She is such a role model for female entrepreneurs." I really couldn't resist saying, even though my boss was stood right next to me: "I think you're in for a surprise. She is a he." I then turned to my boss (thinking to myself - oh fuck), smiled and said "more tea, vicar?". She, bless her, was pissing herself laughing.

It's been a good day. Been given an interesting project to work on at work, and have been asked if some of my photos from the Football v Homophobia footie match on Sunday can be sent to some left-wing magazines for publication alongside some articles which are to be written about the event.

Only downside from this evening was listening to Melvin Bragg talking complete bollocks about class on the radio. This was tempered by hearing the lovely KD Lang sing 'Constant Craving' after listening to his drivel.

Edit: reference to Melvin Bragg's bollocks removed from last sentence and replaced with 'drivel' ;-)
