Thinking Day
Happy Thinking Day to Guides and Girl Scouts all over the world!
22nd February was Lord and Lady Baden-Powell's birthdays (yes, both of them!) and it's the day we celebrate our organisation. It normally falls during half term but this year as it didn't we decided to celebrate it as a District. So we had Rainbows, Brownies and Guides all gathering in our local school for activities from a variety of different countries including France, Mexico, Spain, Scandanavia and New Zealand.
Our unit chose New Zealand partly because a year ago today New Zealand suffered a terrible earthquake and we wanted to honour our friends down under. We taught the girls the Maori stick which you can see demonstrated by Maryam and Chloe*. We also (hilariously) tried to teach them the Haka! Well, it was certainly entertaining, especially for everyone else!
We round off the evening with a select group - myself, Cindy, Kathryn and Victoria - going to the pub for a well-earned drink.
