The vine
Scotland in decay. A long abandonded building. Nature of course now makes advances to reclaim the site with a vine creeping into the open space.
We put up structures, sometimes elegant in their time and sometimes just plain functional or even downright ugly. Then when they have served their purpose or fallen on tough times due to catastrophe or decay we just leave them to rot gracelessly away.
For a nation that claims to be a modern society it is also the case that we appear to treat many people who have similarly fallen on tough times or just become old or infirm in much the same way. Too much of a generalisation perhaps but it seems that we are developing a culture that for those who have wealth and the opportunities wealth provides then more wealth and opportunity is given, and for those who have little wealth then less is given.
