Bath before you go buddy
Umi got a bath and so many cuddles this morning before she left.
Off to the SPCA shelter and Umi followers will recall I said she was featuring in the local paper SPCA sponsor page, which was published yesterday, well it worked. Within an hour of her being at the shelter she was on hold for someone. The process is that they have the inspector visit them on Monday, he checks them out and then she goes to the vets for a check up and as they say, to be desexed (we all know it's very young for that, but that's how it is) then she'll be off to her new family.
Wow , that was fast.
Consequently she's back here for the rest of the weekend as there's no point in her staying in the shelter. And one our younguns does the weekend shift so she's back "home " for a couple more nights. I'll carry on blipping her while she's here. Might have forgotten how to photograph anything else!!
There have been a good few comments, and rightly so, about how difficult it may be for us to give her up. Just like to say we feel our job was to take her in as a baby too young to be away from mother, deprived and abandoned, take her through the critical weeks of development, particularly when she's learning how to relate to her pack,i.e. people, and do what we can to give her the chance to fit in to human society with the social tools to fare well. Just this week we've seen her asking for cuddles and responding to situations where she needs to be well mannered. With dogs this kind of thing locks in very strongly from a young age, if they miss out they may be OK but if they get it, they will be OK.
Umi has got it.
Yes , definitely will miss her, but that's a fine reward, I'm happy to see her go.
