cycles
I nearly chose a sail boat in full sail with a beautiful red and white spinnaker fully filled but I was so busy admiring it I lost the shot. However it got me thinking of the many cycles and circles in life as everything moves along its allotted path ... a sail moves up then down .. a baby matures to adult form. We see stages of life cycles as we pass through time and space but only occasionally we are shown nature's circles as well. All at once we are shown everything.... it is up to us to see, value, understand, move forward and accept our futures as somewhere, somehow it will all make sense.
My static circle seen today was the wonderful cyclamen on my windowsill. I love the shape of the flowers as they raise their heads and throw their tresses (petals) behind them. Ready to face the world. Here the richness of the pink glows attracting insects (or me with a little paintbrush) to pollinate the flowers. My grandchildren say that Grandma is 'bee-ing' again.
Successful pollination is followed by deepening colour on the petals and their slow demise releasing the little round seed pods. These in turn ripen and their stems begin to corkscrew, pulling the seed pod down to the ground and safety. (There is a seed pod bottom right of this plant. ) Once the pod is ready it splits open scattering its seeds round the parent corm. These can germinate at once producing little cormletts or wait until the season is right. Once the new plants have built up stores of food made by their leaves they go on to push up little pointed flower buds ready to continue the circle.
Isn't nature grand.
