bad moon rising

My friends thought I was crazy for kneeling on the pillows at House Wine tonight to snap this picture but it was too good to pass up. The colors, the contrast, the framing, the scene. It isn't quite as it appeared in my eyes as I took the picture, but I still like it. (That little speck of light in the middle of the blue is the moon - on the rise.) And it made me feel sort of artistic since I was literally pulled from my glass of Volver Tempranillo and the laughter of my friends to try to capture the moment, to preserve the moment...through the lens of my camera. I guess all artists start out taking pictures like this until they manage to take pictures that are more breathtaking.
