light
I feel like the 7th Street studio of Yoga Vida is always a study in light. Literally. And today figuratively, too. There is usually great light coming through the windows, being reflected by these crystal balls hanging in the windows. The bamboo floors are a light honey color. The walls in mint green, white, and a golden tan make the room feel light. And the etchings on the windows often bring a playful silhouette to the middle or the side of room as the rays of sun stream through. I took some pictures of that today but the one that I liked best was the one that I've posted. The light often reflects off of these ornaments and scatters the sunshine all over the room, even to the darkest corner. And there was something about that white wall of the building next door and the shadow of the tree that was casts upon the wall that reminded me of the presence of light all around.
And that is what Ramsay's message was about today - light. And the fact that at our essence, we are all light. But in the course of life, we clutter up that light with other things. Quite literally, "junk" gets in the way of us seeing that, as Ramsay said, we are already (the light) what we want to be. I loved this image. Light from within to bring us internal hope when the world seems dark. Light to share with others and to bring to a sometimes dark world. Light which is versatile and playful and comforting and vibrant and something that everyone wants a part of. It's spiritual and tangible at the same time. It's usually the sign of something good...moving from dark to light. And to think we're all actually full of it, even when we can't access the light in ourselves, is just a very awesome thought. So here's to light...to living in the light, to being the light, to taking comfort in the light. (And on World Yoga Day, this seems terribly appropriate!)
