COASTLINE NINE

An afternoon walking part of the Cleveland Way, near Ravenscar. View shows the bay across to Robin Hoods Bay.
On this site bricks were hand-made and used to build, amongst other things, the local Odeon Cinema. They are of non-standard dimensions and bear the name 'Ravenscar' on one face.
In addition it was a major site for the production of Alum. This mineral was smelted on the land in the foreground of the view and then shipped to London and abroad for use in the clothing industry.
All of this land now belongs to the National Trust.
Hope to walk more bits of the Cleveland Way throughout the year - so watch out !
Coastline Nine cos' it was the ninth photo taken today.
