Upside Down Beard

I took this photo from the telly this evening. The programme was called Empire on BBC1. It took a reflective look at the history of the British Empire. The presenter visited a beautiful Indian palace where he met an Indian Prince. This was a portrait of the Prince's great, great grandfather. Hasn't he got an amazing beard? I didn't know that beards could do that and I wonder why men don't brush them up like this anymore?
