Pica pica

Today's the day ............................. to count magpies

One for sorrow, two for joy;
Three for a letter, four for a boy;
Five for silver, six for gold;
Seven for a secret, never to be told;
Eight for a wish, nine for a kiss;
Ten for a bird that's best to miss.

Or so they say - and although I only photographed one, I'm not too worried because there were actually three of them in the garden.

Wonder who the letter will be from ......................?
