Reflecting on the Bible

On the way back from the post office to get a new road tax disc and collect some Euros for my work trip to Belgium next week, I stopped at the church of St Mary Newick to have a look a the stained glass. There are several very fine windows but I was particularly struck by the reflection of a window on the north wall on to a display cabinet containing a very large 1819 Holy Bible. The window itself is by James Powell & Sons as are most of the others in the church. This one dates from 1904 and has four lights depicting St Stephen, the Virgin and child, Angels with children and St John the Evangelist. It was erected in memory of Hugh Gregory Gregory (how odd to be called Gregory Gregory) who died in 1903 aged 17.
