Winchcombe Imp
This is the Winchcombe Imp - it's a replica of the imp that can be found carved and hidden in a screen in St Peters Church, Winchcombe, Glos.
This imp was made out of the lead from the old church roof dated 1744 and sold to help pay for the new roof in 1978.
I was a regular bell ringer at this church in the late 50's and thru 60's - my grandfather was head ringer at the belfry for a large number of years - the belfry had one of the longest pulls in the country until the ringing platform was raised and the 6 bells were rehung to play clockwise - when I rang they were anti-clockwise.
