Remember when pumps looked like this?
My earliest recollection of purchasing petrol was at 4 gallons for £1.00 and when I worked nights at a petrol station in Cheltenham a £1.00's worth was just over 3 gallons.
My wage at the time was under £20 per week - hence the need to work nights.
This pump was in the museum at Melton Mowbray - I had driven My old boss Adam Henson up to the area to deliver a keynote speech to a Rural Development meeting/workshop during his speech I had a quick look round Melton Mowbray - didn't buy a pork pie though - but I did have some pork pie at the lunch back at the meeting.
