The Falls of Leny
This used to be a favourite haunt when the boys were wee. Only 5 minutes from our doorstep it was a place to visit at school lunch break to look at the waterfall. Beacause of the recent rain I thought it would make a good blip so in a clear rainfree 30 minute window I set off.
Just beyond this blip I had to climb over a fallen tree accross the muddy path. Shortly after that the path bordered the dangerous A84 where the safety barrier was missing. Next a tree to go under, then a very large and deep muddy puddle.
I'm sure the falls were in full speight. I'm sure there was a magnificent roar to be heard. I saw and heard nothing. At the next hurdle I decided it was to dangerous to go on and turned back.
I was disappointed and disgusted. Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park have let themselves down badly.
The Falls of Leny are advertised as a tourist attraction and are signposted from the main road. There is even a carpark of sorts to serve the visitors although this too is in a very sorry state.
Don't take your life in your hands if you are tempted to visit, it's not worth it.
A letter will follow to those who should care!
