Wolfscote Dale

Last day of our mini-break and the weather doesn't seem so good today (but it did get better and we ended up in sunshine by mid-morning). Checked out after breakfast and made another booking so that we can return in May (that's how good it is!).

A 5.5 mile circular walk today, staring from Alstonefield. Exiting the village heading north and taking the path at the bend in the road. Across the fields between Gratton Hill and Narrowdale Hill, heading for the end of Beresford Lane before turning back into Wolfscote Dale. Through the dale as far as Coldeaton Bridge before crossing the river and trekking up and over the hill and back to Alstonefield.

Buzzards (loads), a Dipper (up close) and a Wren were the wildlife highlights of the day.

Returned home via Bakewell (where we stopped for a stroll by the River Wye in the sunshine) and a cup of tea. Bought some Bakewell puddings to bring home (they don't seem as large as they used to be).
