Gingerbread architecture

Gingerbread houses are famous in Haiti. It is an architecture style that has been used in many large villa-like houses around 1900.
Gingerbread houses are typically constructed out of wood, a rather abnormal construction material in today's Port au Prince. But they have proven to be very though, most gingerbread houses survived the earthquake!

Today me and some friends went for a tour along some beautiful Gingerbread houses.
Unfortunately almost all gingerbread houses are in a very bad shape, the house in the picture is in a relatively good shape compared to many others! We were very lucky because the owner allowed us to enter this house, unbelievably beautiful and characteristic.
