A Year in Phnom Penh

Sun down over the Mekong

While I cannot claim to have the deep connections to this mighty waterway that historically belongs to the Cambodians, Laotians, Burmese, Chinese, Thais and Vietnamese, I am strangely attached to it. Not least for its inherent beauty and magnificence and renowned sunsets, which this photo does not do justice to.

But also, because it is on these waters that Berry (seen here strolling out across the sands to test their suitability for a Ultimate Frisbee tournament) asked me to marry him and on which we now enjoy trips out on our wonderful Cambodian longboat.

This shot was taken on our way to Kratie province to see the elusive Mekong River Irrawaddy Dolphins.
