Coke in a Bag
I found this hanging on the wall outside our bathroom. Since you can buy Coke like this in most shops up and down our street, the packaging doesn't help narrow down the mystery of where it came from.
Coke, Sprite, red Fanta, etc. can be bought like this all over Thailand. Usually the drink is coming out of a glass bottle, which the storekeeper needs to hang onto in order to be refilled next month. The bag is filled 3/4 of the way with ice, then the soda is poured in and a colorful straw tops it off.
Coke in a bag has gotten mixed reactions from my American friends. Some say, "Cool! I want to drink one!" Another said, "Eww, that seems dirty." (The bag is fresh, so I'm sure it's cleaner than drinking out of a bottle that has been used for years.)
The only downfall is the fact that you can't just set them down. I have seen bags balanced carefully against trees, walls, and couches. As the ice melts, they fall over, spilling Coke everywhere...which is why we find this bag hanging on our wall instead of set on top of the small refrigerator in the same room.
