Bank Holiday Monday

The plan for today: posh frocks on, bus from Gateshead to Chester le Street, mini bus to Crook to pick up more people, coach to the Ripon horse races.

The reality: posh frocks on, phone call to Chester le Street, discovery that the trip to Ripon races wasn't until next Saturday, taxi to Newcastle Quayside, various bars, double vision, a pizza I can barely remember eating, cocktail(s?) then a taxi home.

Our unexpected trip to the Quayside turned out to be a great day out. We even met the Belgium group Soulwax in the Malmaison hotel.

Who needs the races?!
