The Early Birds

This was taken around 6am this morning. I am sure they found lots of delicious worms on the fairway.

It felt like Friday today and the end of the week. It has been a busy one.

I visited a sick friend this afternoon who is fighting cancer. He is a widower who lost his wife 2 years ago and now his children have to deal with another parent who could be taken from them. I am very concerned about them but was pleased to see that he looked well after just receiving a heavy round of Chemo.

When their mom died, J, the younger brother spent that first weekend with us. He called us from his grandparents home and said please come and fetch me. It was a turning point for Mr G and myself as we realised that he needed us and that we were prepared to look after him as if he were our own. At the time his dad was spending most of the year on a mine in Mozambique and his mom was alone with the two children.

J now attends a boarding school and is very settled and happy in that environment. He spends a lot of time with us when he is on holiday and we are happy to provide a "family" for him and treat him as one of the children. His older sister is going through a lot of stress at the moment and I am hoping to support her through this.
