Bo'ness Hippodrome Cinema 100th Birthday Cake

A 'party' was organised to celebrate the 100th birthday of the Bo'ness Hippodrome Cinema. Building originally opened on 11 March 1912.

There were 2 sittings to ensure that everyone who wanted to participate could. The audience was played into the cinema by the Forth Bridges Accordion Band. Every member of the audience was given a piece of birthday cake.

The programme of the event included a film made in 1912, "Artheme Swallows his Clarinet". A film of the 1912 Bo'ness Children's Fair and a silent movie starring Harold Loyd, "Billy Blazes Esq" - all accompanied by "Gladstone's Bag, a musical quartet direct from the Britannia Panopticon, Glasgow.

The Barony Players presented a reading of an extract from the play, "An Inspector Calls" by J.B. Priestly - the which being set in 1912, although it was written some years later.

Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. I'm so glad I was there.

And in the evening there will be a showing of the original, black & white movie, the Ealing comedy, "The Ladykillers" with Sir Alec Guinnes, Peter Sellers, Cecil Parker, Herbert Lom, Danny Green and Katie Johnson. Voted for by audience poll.
