Swings

I don't know what these things are, but I like walking by them on the days when I don't ride the train. A long walk was needed today. I came in at 7:30 to get an early start on backdating our new Quicken software, and I didn't really do much else until 3 o'clock, save for catching a few minutes of Luyanda's presentation on "Crime in South Africa," which was pretty chilling and frustrating. I often hear that SA is the murder capital of the world, but apparently 2007 dubbed it the rape capital as well. Totally lame. To be honest, it really doesn't feel that scary. I go into the townships every few days and see tons of nice, awesome people. I've eaten sit-down meals there, and I've walked a good way off the beaten path without any trouble. Of course, that was always with friends, during the day. After dark, those numbers pile up faster than a Patriots home game against the Redskins, and then all the cages and electric fences start to make a little more sense.
