Winch

Back on the rig again after 4 weeks leave :-(

This is one of our anchor winches, we have 8 total two located on each corner of the rig in our lower hulls. Each one holds around 7500' (2286m) of 3.5" (90mm) diameter anchor wire. This wire has a breaking strain of around 700t and the winches stall out under tension at around 350-400t.

The anchor wire goes from here all the way out to the anchor and at the moment the winches are under tension holding around 15ot each. Basically to hold the rig in position while we get on with the well.

Looking from the top down the rig and the anchor wires would look like a spider with the 8 anchor wires being the spiders legs. Two wires radiating out from each corner.
