the colour green

an irish man went up a hill...

...with his daughter.

Went in to town first thing this morning to get a few things with Dad. He bought postcards to send home - it's his last day here, so they'll arrive long after he's back!

Drove to the builders' yard up at the Chesser viaduct to see about getting some timber for kitchen shelves. It was the weirdest place - the guys weren't great salesmen either, so we bought nothing!

Got home and iced last night's carrot cake, then made a chocolate cake. Both are for our Shandon Local Food Group AGM tomorrow night. It's also our third birthday, hence the cakes :)

Had a massive Ulster fry for lunch at about 3pm - potato bread, soda bread, pancakes, bacon, sausages and eggs with a big mug of tea each.

Don appeared at the house just in time for the fry - he must have a nose for these things :)

Headed up to a local garage to get a new tyre on my car; whilst we waited we decided to go to the Chinese Supermarket next door - it's an amazing place. So much choice and great value. Will definitely be going back. There were so many weird and wonderful things, including durian fruit which I've been dying to try for ages.

Back to Colinton Community Compost today for another 6 bags of the stuff.

The view from up there is class - you can see away over to Fife and beyond as well as over to Arthur's Seat, Edinburgh Castle, and the Forth road and rail bridges.

Finished filling the raised beds; made a few wigwams with canes for the sweet pea; planted out the leeks and peas and built a wee mini greenhousey thing for the tomatoes and the patissons.

Skyped with mum, my sister and my Uncle Wes this evening.

Dad leaves tomorrow. Gonna be a sad morning.
