Optic Nerve

Bloomin' high

Atop a wall a striking bunch of daffodils winked down on my midday wandering. I passed the dancing/golden host on high and snapped the spring trumpeters against the misty sky - with a friendly telegraph pole to frame. I was rather less like a lonely cloud that Wordsworth might recognise -- more a hurrying haze or a thin fog on a mission, as I was making my way to the parcel office before it closed. Picked up a new lens ordered from eBay for £50 and a £2 clamp enabling my (Jos's) iPhone to be used as GPS on future car journeys.

The suction cup stand behaved perfectly :) proper bargain! Sadly I discovered upon examination that there was a fair amount of fungus on virtually every optical surface of the lens. (The item description mentioned 'some fungus', must have been ideal growing conditions in the post, is all I'll say..)

Undeterred - I decided to strip it down after work - and with some careful dis-assembly, a spot of dilute bleach on a cotton bud or two and plenty of patience, I was very happy to assemble a very much improved 75-300 Canon USM zoom after an hour. Looking forward to testing fully tomorrow. Fingers crossed I shall reflect favourably on today's other 'bargain' and perhaps will recall today's events with romantic poetic dreaminess:

And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.
