Hergé

Another girly day out in Brussels today - and it's been a great day! 19 degrees and sunny, it really was like summer (note the blue sky). But the weird thing is that at 7am this morning is was 1 degree and frosty! So deciding what to wear was difficult.

Anyway, back to my blip....Brussels is recognised as one of the world's leading capital cities in comic strip art, and over the last 15 years, comic strip heroes have come to take up home across the city. Fifty or so murals and sculptures pay tribute to them, and the one I came across today is by Hergé, who of course is most famously known as the creator of Tintin.

This comic strip is of 'Quick et Flupke' (the street urchins) of Brussels who bring life to one of the most typical districts of the city, Les Marolles, where they raise absolute hell! In contrast to Tintin, these two heroes are not the travelling kind. Brussels is their only place of adventure.

I bought my husband a booked called 'La BD dans la Ville' with maps of all these murals. We intend to find them all - it may take some time, but I'm sure we'll have fun :-)
