Stealth Ruins Access

So English Heritage have had significant funding cut. This means that their properties are only open at weekends until the beginning of April. We had trekked across to Rievaulx Abbey today with plans of exploring it. Stymied. Well until the chaps at the Tourist Information of the also closed Helmsley Castle informed us that in no way would they tell us to just jump the gate, and if anyone did do it, it would be better to be today, as one of them would be working there tomorrow.

Jump the gate. Great plan!

Picnic in the grounds with the local chickens and rooster. And lots of exploring around the place. A few other people had the same idea as us, and the guys landscaping paid us no heed.
