The journey continues...

Alpaca woo!

Today we had a nice and relaxed start. Although design for this month's issue of the magazine has begun we weren't needed too much so Helena, Carina and I decided to head out around midday.

I was instantly tempted by a nearby street vendor selling tucumanas. These Bolivian specialities are probably more similar to Cornish pasties than the Argentine empanadas and I think they're actually better! In fact I have seemed to become quite addicted to them and it is now a common stop on the way to Spanish classes.

We headed straight to the Witches market as Carina hasn't seen it yet and walked around the touristy stalls for a few hours. There are so many lovely patterned things here in Bolivia to buy for such cheap prices. Nevertheless there are only so many things you can buy without looking like the ultimate gringo! Helena and I purchases some hand-made alpaca socks which are the comfiest things ever. The markets here have such a strange set-up; it seems that you go to different streets for different things, such as touristy souvenirs, school stuff, clothes, homeware etc. So it should be relatively easy to find what you're looking for, as long as you know the street. I managed to find such freshly cooked popcorn for 10p a bag..bargain!

On the way back to the flat we stopped off for some food and I had a tasty pork dish for £3 - the prices here are ridiculously cheap, however this only encourages me to eat out more than I already do and so I seem to be spending exactly what I would spend during an average week at home.

Later we met Ivan, Rodrigo and Jules to go to a dance show at which our tango instructors were performing. The show itself wasn't that great, as it didn't seem to be that well put together in terms of the dances being a bit messy. But the tango was great and our teachers were by far the best. On the way home we stopped off at Sergio's for some huge slices of pizza, followed by ice-cream. Then it was back to the flat to prepare the bed for the new arrival tomorrow. I'm excited for a new addition to the BX family :)
