North Everest
Yesterday evening we arrived at the stand off position for the North Everest location. We ran out four Hermod anchors and are waiting for the arrival of a material barge to be taken alongside first. After that we will move the Hermod to her final location. The platform on that final location is the platform on the left of this picture. The Hermod has to take off a Skid Base structure of approximate 500 tonnes, that's all. On this picture you can also clearly see what Lord Cullen achieved after the 'Piper-A' disaster; a separate production- and living platform and a dedicated stand-by vessel. Notice how high the platforms are above the water, that is not without a reason. Winter storms can cause such high waves here that this air gap underneath the platform is absolutely necessary. What do you think; the bridge is high enough to let us pass tomorrow with our air draft of 25 meters? To be continued!
