Airdraft
Airdraft is a strange word. It is the distance from the waterline to the highest point of the vessel. You need to know this when passing bridges. And that's what we have to do on the next location. There are two platforms connected to each other with a bridge and we have to bring an Hermod anchor out underneath that bridge. To do so, we need a maximum airdraft of 25 meters. According our drawings, our airdraft is 29 meters, the long antenna in the mast included. You can see it on the picture on top of our aft mast. So, to reduce our airdraft by 4-5 meters, we took away the antenna. Although a fall-arrestor was used, working at heights like you see on this picture is normally prevented at sea with an always moving vessel, but this was necessary. It sounds too good to be true that our airdraft is exactly 25 meters now. I don't trust it until I see ourself passing safely under the bridge with an anchor on our stern. To be continued!
