Leonardo and Priscila
Back blip
Lovely night last night with Leonardo and Priscila. Leonardo's the son of our late and dearly loved Portuguese teacher and friend, Nidia. Nidia, who passed away at far too young an age four years ago, and who introduced us to so many Brazilian things as well as trying to teach us Portuguese twice a week in our flat, way back in 2002. She had a passion for life, was a very good, patient teacher and it was she who introduced us to Rio and we learnt from Leonardo last night that it had been her dream to live in Rio one day. Not to be, but she'd be overjoyed to know we had our little studio there. It was great to see Leonardo last night and see all of his mum's values and sense of humour shining through. It was the first time we'd met Priscila and I was hoping she would be someone Nidia would have loved. I needn't have worried! She's absolutely lovely and they're getting married in September this year. We were joking last night with Leonardo that all our Portuguese mistakes are his mum's fault and I could almost hear Nidia laughing with us. Anyway, it was a good night, a far too late night, which meant a rather slow, late start to our Saturday morning!
