The Beast is Back
This platform arrived in Newhaven this morning. It has been here before along with it's companion platform, when they were parked for a few months. The thing is huge; it towers over the cliffs and can be seen from just about anywhere in the town. This time it's here to help in the construction of an offshore windfarm, which may be built from Newhaven or maybe Shoreham.
Part of the waterfront has been fenced off, possibly because some beaureaucrat has decided that Save Newhaven Beach activists may try and use it for publicity in their campaign against the port operators or something. No doubt it comes under that catch-all cause of Health & Safety. The company which operates the port has run it into the ground and, belatedly, the locals are getting organised as they have very little support from the county council. I hope they succeed as the place is a mess.
