Start of the Race

I was invited to crew on a large Cat today for the regular 'Rum Race' (the prize is a bottle) at the Kerikeri Cruising Club.
The Cat was the largest yacht I have sailed on and it was the fastest boat in the fleet, overtaking all of the B fleet which started 5 minutes earlier. However because of handicapping we were placed was well down the list !
It was a great afternoon, the wind gusted up to 20 knots and we had sun as well as some rain.
Still haven't decided what kind of boat we want, but the sail has made me think further about a sailng boat !
