"Wore my ring to work."

The hues of the opal, the light of the diamond, are not to be seen if the eye is too near.
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Still snowing. Wore my diamond to work. Lots of excitement. Freda and I got out at eleven and went to her house. Had dinner with her and n??e. Left around one for Boston to have our pictures taken. Had to wait a short time. Felt like fools, giggled till I hardly could stop. Very wet, snowing hard. Got a waist and pumps, then a soda at Clairs and started for Somerville.
Over to Kits in the evening.
Ruth made me a lot of fudge.
Sam home until Monday.

Kit and Ruth were future sister-in-laws. Kit was married to Gordon's younger brother, George. Ruth and Sam(the youngest) were Gordon's siblings, along with Abby, mentioned in previous entries.

The waist and pumps were perhaps for the wedding on June, 18th, 1920

The giggles lasted all Nora's life, I'm so thankful she never really stopped.

For the Record,
This day came in warm and sunny, like a late spring day. We walked in the woods with my brother and sister-in-law and saw lots of wildlife, Some rather scary. By the swamps and river, a big thick bodied and coiled Northern Water snake, a Mallard and Great Blue Heron couple and lots of peeping frogs. A lovely butterfly drifted by, but the most terrifying, a large brown bat flew directly toward us in broad daylight! Sick or rabid we were sure, we got out of that area fast!
