Went for a 19 mile walk today and had lunch in Dalwood Village - unspoilt East Devon on the southern end of the Blackdown Hills. The old telephone box here has been put to good use. We started at Yarcombe where we were told that the vehicle carrying the crown jewels en route to Cornwall for safekeeping in the Second World War, careered off the road on a bend just before the Yarcombe Inn. Urban myth or fact? In another initiative here the olde inn, The Yarcombe Inn is under new management by the community.
