Study Snack

Exam season has returned, and the students needed a bit of a break from studying, so we made a study snack. We got out the big pot, the big lid, a little oil, and the kernels given to us by Ning's mom a few weeks ago.

Popping popcorn at home on the stove was a first for some of the students. You should have seen the expectation on their faces as they heard the first few pops and the joy and excitement as the popping increased. Peeking into the pot a couple times got popcorn flying around the room and laughter rolling.

One student asked, "Why is the movie theater popcorn yellow and ours white?"

We sprinkled salt over the first batch and used sweet butter (like with sugar in it...yes, they have that here) for the second batch. We all liked the second batch better, but both disappeared quickly as students sat back down at the table to continue studing. :)
