Family Ties

The time has almost come for Eli and Mikey to depart. I managed to persuade them to allow me to take a few memorable pics, as they are re-united after their enforced year apart.
Having Fraz and Eli around us, if only for a short period of time, made me realise how important and how strong our family ties are. I love the words of Erma Bombeck:
The family.' We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another's desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together.'
Family is essential because we all yearn to feel like we belong to something greater than ourselves, and so even a 'partial' family reunion is a time of great joy and excitement in our home.
In the world that we live in, families are often scattered around the globe, as are our three children. Loved ones may not see or talk to one another for years, even though there is but a plane ride separating them. I feel so fortunate that we manage to communicate with our kids almost on a daily basis, despite the distances that separate us. Modern technology makes it so much easier to stay in touch.
A family reunion is a time to remember that, although you may feel close to your neighbours and friends, there is nothing quite like family. They are the ones who are closest to you.You share the same history and ancestors who cared for you. When you really need help, family members are the ones who are most likely to be there for you.
I know that our family bonds will be FOREVER STRONG.Thank you for giving of your time and yourselves Eli , Fraz,(and Mikey )and I know that Leo would have dearly loved to have joined us, if work had not got in the way.Distance alone would not have stopped her from being here.
