Basic Pink
Did you know that that the color of hydrangeas depends on the acidity of the soil? Acidic soils produce blue flowers, and alkaline soils produce pink blooms. I learned that during a summer job at a nursery, but I've never been brave enough to grow them myself.
This is effectively the last day of summer for us -- school starts tomorrow and we begin our fall routines. Went to a friend's house for a play-date, where I photographed this hydrangea in her yard. Even though I don't often photograph flowers, I thought I'd blip this bright, summery bloom that doesn't seem to know that autumn is almost upon us.
