Sunset over Canandaigua Lake

I knew I was in for a kind of late night tonight, so I took along my tiny Canon camera and headed out the door.

As the sun began to set in the sky, it was looking like a beautiful sunset was unfolding. I decided to drive down the east side of the lake to a small beach. There would be no obstructions there....no unsightly lines, and plenty of open space for a nice wide angle shot.

As I made my way along the road, it seemed like the beach I had in mind migrated farther south than it used to be! I watched as the big brightly burning orb in the sky was getting smaller and smaller as it was quickly sinking in the west.

I finally made it to the beach, but the sun was now pretty much history. I was discouraged, but got out of the car anyway. With each photo I took, the sky would darken a bit more, and the sun's last rays grew even more colorful!

It was hard to decide on a picture, but I chose this one for its simplicity.
