Evening in the Souq

The reason for our visit to the souq today was that it is our 33rd Wedding Anniversary today and my husband bought me a lovely pearl necklace from the Gold Souq.

I always love ambling through the souq and taking photos and make many of them into paintings, one of which was selected to be a part of Bahrain's permanent national art collection three years ago.

I really like all the bits of wire hanging down and the patterns the roofs make and the awnings that hang down in many of the street and the old decaying buildings which have a charm all their own, but it is all disappearing and wont be here much longer. It is being rebuilt as modern clean air conditioned buildings, but totally soul less and plastic with no atmosphere, such a shame.
